Special Events And Your Security

When the Canadians and the USA hockey teams were matched at the Olympics, there was so much hype and anxiety about the crowd, local police asked liquor stores in the centers to shut down early.  The purpose was to prevent emotions flaring extremely high which tends to happen when alcohol is involved. With the also heightened security awareness post 9/11, security is no longer an option but a necessity especially during special events as such with the 2010 Winter Olympics.  Savannah will be faced with similar security threats during 2010 St. Patrick's Day celebration.

As Savannah boasts the second large St. Patrick's Day celebration in the country, the crowds are large and boisterous, but party goers seem to be more aware than ever before.  Local law enforcement and security agencies become visible and are ready to calm situations in the event uncontrollable individuals want to showboat.  Savannah is well prepared as usual to support the festivities while not hindering any of your fun.  Security threats are always a concern and many man-hours have been executed in planning to ensure the safety of everyone.  And although alcohol can contribute to the unruly participants, it is nonetheless, a situation that is always part of situational awareness and trained police and security officers are prepared to de-escalate any situation.

So while everyone is enjoying the St. Patrick's Day festivities in Savannah this year, please remember to be aware of your surroundings, travel in groups, designate a responsible person to drive or just be alert, but most importantly, have SAFE FUN!  We all want to enjoy, but not at the risk of your life.

Small Business Strategic Need for Security Services

In past years, security officers have long been seen as inadequate rental cops that offer no particular service or lack the respect for protecting your assets.  However, with the heightened awareness of security threats not just in government buildings and large transportation depots, the need for security is at the forefront of the news and every major law enforcement agency in the country.  To bring security back to small communities is what really drive small business owners to re-evaluate their operations.  There are several reasons that many small business owners require more security presence with contracted security officers to protect, detect, react and resolve many potential conflicts.

Taking a proactive approach to protecting and securing your assets is not only smart, but strategic in the sense that it saves the business money in the long run and prevents inventory loss in most immediate revenue accountability.  As protection becomes more of a need, trained security officers are more apt to detect anomalies from normal operations; a necessary attribute to have especially when you have critical products and services that are vital to your revenue stream. Trained security officers have specific education in how to restrain potential suspects. A critical component when business owners choose to prosecute suspects in retail theft internal or external.  The most important element of having security officers present is to offer a safe environment for your customers.  Security officers provide specialized execution in conflict resolution through communication and approach.  Communication and respectful approach resolves situations before they become elevated.

Many small business owners do not budget or cannot afford security services as part of their operations financial plan. A more in depth analysis should research the cost benefits more closely in security services.  Security service is definitely a strategic design to a more efficient business operation.
